This complete course is for students who are Absolute Beginners and want to learn to dance Salsa. This course has 8 modules (36 Lessons) and is designed to get you dancing Salsa by the end of the program.

We will help you master your Salsa foundation so you gain the confidence you need to look and feel smooth on the dance floor. The course is progressive and you will build upon each week to give you the muscle memory you need!

Even if you don't have a partner, you can work on the salsa footwork that will get you ready for the dance floor and to dance with any level partner!

As we get deeper into the course material, you will be able to create more challenging turn patterns and shines as you master the fundamentals. Walk away with a skill set for life!

MODULE 1 - 5 LESSONS
BASIC STEPS & TURNS

We will work on basic salsa steps & turns, practice & drills. This will help make you look less mechanical and become more fluid.

SHINES, RIGHT TURN & VARIATIONS

We cover our first set of Salsa Shines, the different connections in salsa partnering and learn about the different hand variations 

MODULE 3 - 5 LESSONS
SHINES, LEFT TURN &

We cover more Shines and learn about the different hand variations you can use in the left turn. 

MODULE 4 - 4 LESSONS
SHINES, CROSS BODY LEAD

Learn the Cross Body Lead with different hand positions and different connections with your partner.

SHINES, OUTSIDE TURN & VARIATIONS

Time to start traveling with your turns! We learn the breakdown of the Outside turn in Salsa dancing and how to properly lead and follow it.

SHINES, INSIDE TURN & VARIATIONS 

We cover the Inside Turn and different hand variations to make this turn look fluid and different each time!

WHEN TO SHINE & TURN COMBO

Now that we have built our Shine repertoire, it's time to Jam! We also cover some important tips to understand how and when we use them!

The class I took was fantastic- Joel and Maria not only explain extremely well steps and intricate moves, but they have such a great, fun personality , the atmosphere is always full of joy and complicity- I absolutely loved the shines taught that day - was a pretty intense workout , with multiple, relentless repetitions, “otra vez”!!! : impossible not to able to shine for real on the dancefloor after that!

I love taking classes at Joel Salsa for he takes the time to teach both the shines and partner work. He and his instructors exhibit patience in teaching the techniques. At the end of the class there is an opportunity to video the new steps introduced which aids in practice. Moreover, the classes are great fun. I am in level 3.

Joel and Maria are clear and wonderful teachers. One thing that I absolutely love and appreciate about their classes are that both leads and followers get equal attention. They break things down incredibly well all while having fun and making students feel really comfortable. I love Maria's style! She brings so much flavor to her teaching and as someone who's new to stepping on the conga (rather than 123567 timing) I wouldn't want to learn anywhere else.

I am now in the advance beginners class level after repeating the entire beginner's 1/2 complete cycles several times. This has been a most enjoyable learning experience for me. Joel and María are excellent teachers for they know how to break all the steps down and provide ample demonstrations, practice for the student and partner work. David & Celia are also good instructors. Who I find to be very helpful is Juan Carlo who volunteers to assist in some of the classes. He knows how to break it down on a one to one basis which is particularly helpful in some of the larger classes. I now go to some of the social which helps me to put it all together.
